From Twitter to X to New Ways of Marketing
To be completely honest, I've never used Twitter and I didn't use X until we had to post on it for the Live Tweet Assignment in class. I've just never understood the point or been interested in the app. But I do remember it changing from Twitter to X and wondering why. It just felt a little too forced.
According to the textbook though, X has over 335.7 million monthly users. So something Elon Musk did when he bought Twitter must have worked. But, Threads has now risen to challenge X. It is instagram's version of the X app. So, I guess we will see which comes out on top.
X is adding new features and new ways to market. This could make it even easier for companies and businesses to market and gain traction for their products on X. In 2023 they introduced long-form video uploads, new features like audio and video calling, an AI search assistant, creator support, advertising enhancements, and brand safety solutions. And in 2024 they introduced AI-driven user and advertising experience, innovative content exploration, investment in creators and partnerships, strengthening full-funnel ads offering, brand safety and original content creation.
X has also been structured to help brands gain more followers. They have improved how they appear in search results and have made it easier for customers to interact with brands. X has something called Professional Accounts. These have features like a professional home, a professional category, profile spotlights, X shopping and X ads and quick promote. There are six specific elements to a professional account on X. The account name and display name, profile picture, bio, header photo, pinned post, and media.
X Premium is a subscription similar to being verified on instagram. There are three levels to this; Basic, Premium and Premium+. The bigger the subscription, the more features become available to use.
Maybe I will start using X more. I am now a lot more intrigued to see how well their new marketing elements work. Maybe some of the new marketing will even convince me to buy yet another product I don't need to spend money on. If X can do that, then I'll really believe in the new marketing elements.
