Chapter 12: Blogs, Vlogs, Podcasts and Webinars

Blogs can be a great way to find information, they are actually pretty common, and according to the textbook Essentials of Social Media Marketing, 77% of people who use the internet read blogs. While I'm not too familiar with reading a lot of blogs, I do enjoy watching vlogs. One of my friends from high school even used to make them, that we would all watch, and sometimes even be in. She called them tech week vlogs, because she would film the entire week of tech week during a show. Tech week is the last week of rehearsals before a performance, when all the extra elements are incorporated in. It was always fun to watch them, and then see yourself on the vlog!

Podcasts are another form of media I'm more familiar with than blogs. Podcasts have revolutionized the way people get new types of information. You can get information on politics, health and diet, advice, listen to interviews, true crime and so much more. I always enjoyed listening to true crime podcasts, and ones about supernatural stories as well. But every time I take a long trip with my parents, they listen to interviews with big stars, where you can actually learn a lot of good life advice. My mom also gets a lot of her health and diet advice from podcasts, she sent me one one about why PMS symptoms can be so bad for women right now because so many women have unbalanced hormones. Through diet and supplements there are ways to make dealing with PMS so much easier. It is something I struggle with and listening to the podcast made me realize I could do something about it. Now I'm working on balancing my hormones and so far I feel a bit better than I did before! It is really incredible what you can learn, especially since my own doctors didn't tell me about this as a way to solve my PMS and period symptoms. I had to go to a holistic doctor to help me figure out how to balance my specific hormones. After I listened to this podcast.

Podcasts, Vlogs, Blogs and Webinars all lead to some very good advice, if you just look for it. I found information that changed my perspective on my body, there is so much more information out there that people write, talk and video about to share with the world. And it is all at our fingertips. So go out there and learn something new!

  1. I LOVE that you mentioned a lot of women having unbalanced hormones. I didn't watch a podcast on it, however I did see a sort of vlog situation on TikTok with this creator and his wife. Essentially, she was having extremely unbalanced hormones due to her condition, and it was also causing some fertility issues as well. He created a whole TikTok channel that was mostly dedicated to the meals he prepares for her, and these meals were all centered around the different proteins and macros and such that would help balance her hormones. And now, I think around two years later, they have a daughter and another baby on the way! All thanks to the food he made that helped his wife balance her hormones! It's crazy to think that that was all it took!

  2. This is a really insightful and relatable reflection! I love how you tied in your personal experiences with vlogs, podcasts, and blogs to illustrate just how impactful they can be in our lives. The story about your friend's tech week vlogs adds a nice personal touch, showing how media can also bring us together and create fun memories. It's interesting how podcasts, in particular, have influenced your understanding of health and wellness. The fact that you were able to find such valuable information about balancing hormones and improving your well-being through podcasts is a great example of how accessible and transformative this type of content can be.
