I'm Done!
This weekend, I performed in the show I've been working on the last couple weeks. Il Tragicomico Equivoco was such an amazing experience. I never think I'm all that funny, but I made the audience laugh. People even came up to me after the show to tell me they thought I did good or they thought I was hilarious. I even have a new nickname, "Scary Foose." My character in the show was a bit of a trickster, only cared about themself and slowly became more sadistic as the rehearsal process went on. Our director really enjoyed physical comedy, and I ended up doing a lot of slapstick/stage combat. The funny thing is that I am the complete opposite of that in person.
While I am so grateful for the show and my experience, the rehearsal process was physically and mentally draining. We had rehearsal every Monday through Friday from six to ten every day for two weeks. The last two rehearsals were six to ten thirty. Plus weekend rehearsals. We were on our feet moving most of the time and the show and our characters changed every day. Either a new bit was added or a move or a scene was changed. I finally have a chance to rest and don't have any rehearsals at night. I have time to actually sit down and do my homework, take time to myself and hang out with my friends.
I think it is important for everyone to take time for themselves especially after a very exhausting couple weeks, or a big event. We are all in college, and have a lot going on with classes and homework, but to be able to make it through all those things it is important to take care of ourselves. This week I'm going to focus on myself, take care of myself, work out and find some time to relax a bit. Maybe I'll take a really long shower at some point this week too. Plus, I'm going to spend some time with my friends, the people who make me the happiest. I'm going to encourage everyone to go find some time to take care of themselves, in whatever way works best for them.
I bet it is so refreshing to finally be done with all of those rehearsals!! I already work four to nine on the weekdays at the CVS in Lima, but that's not every single day. I couldn't imagine having to do any kind of labor/moving around for that long and yet you've got to memorize all of it on top of that. You should give yourself a round of applause, and yes definitely take some time to relax!
ReplyDeleteIt’s clear that you put a lot of hard work into the show, and it’s paying off, not just in your performance but in how people are responding to you. Your description of your character and the physical comedy you performed shows your dedication to the role. It sounds like you had an incredible experience with Il Tragicomico Equivoco!
